Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Soltura, a language-practice web application available at getsoltura.app (the "Service"). The Service is provided by Timothy James Weston, an independent sole trader based in Queensland, Australia ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. What Soltura does
Soltura lets you speak sentences in a language you're learning and returns AI-generated corrections and explanations, and can read the corrected sentence aloud. It is a study aid intended to help you practise. It is not a certified translation, teaching, or examination service, and it is not a substitute for professional instruction.
2. Eligibility & accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you live in the EU/EEA or the UK, you must be at least the age of digital consent in your country — this is 13 in some countries and up to 16 in others; below that age you may only use the Service with the consent of a parent or guardian. Free use is anonymous. If you buy something, you sign in with a magic link sent to your email address; you're responsible for keeping access to that email account secure, and for activity that happens under your sign-in.
Sharing an account. A purchase is for one person. Nothing stops you signing in on several of your own devices — that is intended — but a paid allowance is counted per account, not per device, so everyone signed in to the same account shares the same allowance and the same pack balance. Sign-in requires access to the mailbox, so sharing an account means sharing your email.
Deleting your account. You can delete your account and everything we hold about it at any time, from Settings → Account → Delete my account and all data. This ends every sign-in on every device immediately, removes your purchase record from our database, and erases the history, garden and level estimate stored in that browser. It cannot be undone, so export a backup first if you want to keep anything. Deleting your account also forfeits any unspent credits and any remaining time on a grandfathered pass — if you would rather have those refunded, write to us before you delete. Nothing needs to be cancelled first: we keep no card on file and nothing recurs.
3. What counts as a "call"
A call is one thing you say, checked — you record a sentence, we return a correction. That is the unit every limit on this page is counted in, and the unit credits are sold in.
- A call that fails — a network error, an AI failure, or a result we could not produce — does not count against your allowance. It is returned to you automatically.
- "Tell me more" is free on the free tier, and costs one call if you hold credits. Asking for a deeper explanation of a correction does not consume your free daily allowance or your starter allowance. If you have a credit balance, it is charged one credit, because it is a second question to the AI. It has its own generous daily limit to prevent abuse.
- The practice-suggestion button is not a call and consumes nothing.
- A level check ("what's my level?") is a short session of several spoken answers. It has its own separate daily limit and does not consume your practice allowance or your credits — finding out your level should never cost you a day's speaking.
4. What you can buy & billing
Soltura is free to use. The one thing you can buy is credits, sold in three sizes as a one-off payment. There is no subscription, no free trial, nothing renews automatically, and we do not keep a card on file. Prices are on our Pricing page and shown again at checkout before you are asked to pay.
- Free tier. Soltura offers a free tier with a daily limit on the number of calls, plus a one-time allowance of extra calls that never expires, granted when you verify an email address — spend it whenever you like. Current figures are on our Pricing page. No payment is required to use the free tier, and no account is required for the daily allowance.
- Credits. A fixed quantity of calls, credited to your account when payment completes. They do not expire. They are a prepaid quantity of a service, not money, not credit and not a stored-value instrument: they cannot be exchanged for cash, transferred to another account, or used for anything other than calls in Soltura.
- What consumes a credit. One recording corrected is one call. Asking for a deeper explanation is also one call if you hold credits, and is free otherwise (§3). A call that fails — a network problem, or a result we could not produce — is returned to you automatically. The practice-suggestion feature and the level check consume nothing.
- How credits and the free daily allowance interact. While you hold credits, your credits are used. The free daily allowance is what you fall back on when your balance reaches zero — it is a floor, not an addition. Running out of credits returns you to the free tier; it never locks you out.
- If you bought a 12-month pass before 17 August 2026. The pass is no longer sold. Yours is unaffected and continues to work as it always did, for as long as it was bought for. You are not required to move to credits and nothing you paid for has been withdrawn.
- Where we can sell. We currently sell only to buyers in Australia, the United States, New Zealand and Canada. Attempting to buy from elsewhere will be declined. Soltura remains free to use anywhere.
- Seller and payment processor. The seller is Timothy James Weston, sole trader, Australia — not a reseller or marketplace. Card payments are processed by Square, who act as our payment processor only; your card details are handled by Square and are never stored on our servers. Prices are in Australian dollars (AUD) and are the full amount charged — no tax is added at checkout. If your card is issued in another currency, your bank sets the conversion rate and may add its own fee; any converted figures we show are indicative only. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method, through Square, and are described in our Refund Policy.
- Credits we give you. Free credits — promotional credits, gifts, and the calls that come with verifying your email — are not purchases. They carry no cash value and are not refundable in money. They work exactly like credits you have paid for, and like them they do not expire. Credits you have paid for are covered by the refund terms below and by our Refund Policy.
- If Soltura is discontinued. We will give at least 90 days' notice, during which your credits continue to work normally. Any paid credits still unused at the end of that period will be refunded on request.
- Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other law that cannot be excluded. Where our liability can be limited, it is limited to resupplying the service or refunding what you paid for it.
5. When your credits run out
Running out freezes your account; it does not delete anything. There is nothing to cancel, because nothing renews.
- Nothing of yours is deleted. Your history, your garden and your level estimate live in your browser, not on our servers, so they are untouched. Buy again and everything is exactly where you left it.
- You return to the free tier — you are never locked out. Full history stays available for 12 months from your most recent purchase, whether or not you still hold credits; after that the app shows the last 7 days and anything older is hidden, not deleted, reappearing in full the moment you buy again.
- Exporting a backup is free, always — including after your credits run out, and including if you never buy anything. Settings → Your data → Export. The file works across the iPhone, Android and web apps.
- We keep your email, your purchase record and any unspent credit balance so that buying again recognises you. You can delete all of it at any time (§2) — note that deleting your account forfeits any unspent credits, which is why the app says so before you confirm.
6. Levels and progress are estimates
Soltura shows a CEFR-style level estimate (A1–C2), a garden that grows as you practise, and other measures of progress. These are informal estimates produced automatically from your own practice, to help you see change over time. They are not assessments, certifications, qualifications, or an official CEFR result, they are not conducted or reviewed by a qualified examiner, and they must not be presented as proof of language ability to an employer, a school, an immigration authority, or anyone else. For an official result, take a recognised examination.
7. Languages
Soltura supports a large number of practice languages, and quality is not the same across all of them. Some are marked Beta in the app: they work, but corrections and explanations are less reliable than in our core languages, and the browser voice used to read sentences aloud may be missing entirely on your device. Beta languages are included in every plan at no extra cost and are offered as-is. Which languages are in which tier can change as they improve.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service unlawfully, or to submit content that is illegal, abusive, or infringing;
- attempt to break, overload, probe, or circumvent the Service, its rate limits, or its security;
- resell, redistribute, or provide the Service to third parties, or use it to build a competing service;
- use automated means to access the Service beyond normal personal practice use.
We may suspend or terminate access that breaches these Terms.
9. AI-generated content
Corrections and explanations are produced by an automated AI model and may be incomplete or wrong. Language is nuanced, and the model can make mistakes. Use your own judgement and don't rely on the Service for anything where an error could cause harm. The Service is provided for general educational purposes only.
10. Your content
You keep ownership of the sentences and audio you submit. You grant us and our processors (see the Privacy Policy) the limited permission needed to process your input to generate your feedback. We don't claim ownership of your practice content and we don't store it on our servers.
11. Our intellectual property
Soltura — including its name, branding, software, design, look and feel, and content (other than the sentences and audio you submit) — is owned by Timothy James Weston and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your own language practice in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, redistribute, or create derivative works from the Service, or use our name or branding without permission, except to the extent permitted by law.
12. Availability
We aim to keep the Service running but don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Corrections require an internet connection and depend on third-party services (Cloudflare and Google). We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
13. Disclaimers & liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Australian Consumer Law. If you are a consumer in Australia, our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, and nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies those rights.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes we'll update the date above. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and you agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland, without limiting any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live.
16. Contact & support
Questions about these Terms, or anything else: support@getsoltura.app.
Soltura is built and supported by one person. Support is provided by email on a best-effort basis — we aim to reply within two working days, and usually do so sooner, but there is no guaranteed response time, no phone line, and no 24/7 helpdesk. Billing and refund questions come to the same address — we are the seller, so there is no provider to be referred on to.
